NOTICE NOTES

Notice Notes is a collaborative film made at the School of Visual Arts. It is a 2000’s infomercial inspired film that depicts Jeff attempting to sell a product that helps him not lose things before realizing he has lost himself.

All of Notice Notes was done online during the pandemic under the supervision of Mario Menjivar.

Character Design

Jeff’s character design was aimed to be a hollowed out man with gaping eyes and an undependable, long shape.

Ned, his (unpaid, of course) intern, was inspired by an equally shady and lanky 2000’s young adult.

Art Direction

The art direction, done by Daniel Duboulay, was inspired by the UPA animation, Mary Blair, and 90’s-2000’s animations. We wanted colors to be muted and resembling the 2000’s tuscan living room. We wanted colors to be off-centered from their line art in backgrounds, and we wanted geometric shape design.

For the scenes where Jeff starts to fully lose himself, we were aiming for Regular Show title cards and unexplained fear. Layouts done by Dawn Li.

Animation

The animation direction was inspired by Looney Tunes principals, exaggerated movements, and timing. All animation was done under the supervision of Breanna Tamburro and Christine Aumiller. Our main program for animation was ToonBoom Harmony.
